Kids in dumpster

<< BEFORE: Rabbit hears about gypsy street kids at milk machine

Here are some pages drawn waaay back during last year’s travels (in notebook #3). At the time, I didn’t post them to this site because I felt they were somehow a little too charged for the material I’d been posting thus far.  (At the time, I really had not posted anything about working with Roma children.  Sometimes it takes a while to process experiences & figure out how to draw them with care, and accurately.)  Now that you’ve read a bit more about Rabbit’s explorations of race issues in Eastern Slovakia, this post will make a lot more sense.  Rabbit is watching people at small town bus station:

  1. Well done. Your narrative is oddly in tune with much of my own during my time in SK. I never made it to Presov, but I did notice this sort of sentiment everywhere I went, gypsy or not.
